The Better Banana Smoothie

 

If you have ever heard the saying ‘Rome wasn’t built in one day,’ you know that anything of great magnitude takes time to get better.  With that being said, healthy habits don’t happen overnight, and neither does weight loss OR weight gain, for that matter.  Everything takes time, but I know you’re busy!  You have work, school, kids, spouses, relatives, Netflix, etc., just so many things in your life that need your attention…

So, here is a fast and easy (and quite tasty) way to start your day.  My healthy better banana smoothie. 

The Better Banana Smoothie 

Banana-cinnamon-oat- banana smoothie

 Ingredients

1   whole (medium) Chiquita Banana (best with brown flecks on peel)

1   cup Silk Unsweetened Almond Milk (or your favorite milk substitute)

2   scoops of Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides (or your favorite unflavored protein or vanilla protein powder)

1/4   cup Quick Oats (20g)

Cinnamon to taste 

1 tsp vanilla extract
(1 packet Stevia – optional)

Pour all ingredients in blender.

Blend on high for 60-90 seconds or until smooth.

Toss in an ice cube or two if you desire a more chilled smoothie (keep in mind this will dilute the flavor and overall texture).

For a chilled, undiluted smoothie, try chopping up your banana the night before and freezing it.  What I’ve found to work the best for my on-the-go life is to measure out my oats, collagen protein, banana, cinnamon, and vanilla and put it all into a Rubbermaid plastic container in the freezer.  When I’m ready to make my smoothie, I take out the plastic container, my unsweetened almond milk, combine in the Ninja, and ta-da!  Delish!
