In this post, I’m going to talk about the 4th easiest way to control your calories…

Drink less alcohol (or make better drinking choices!).
This tip is super simple, yet can take some work.
Let me give you a few quick bits of information that can help portray this point.
You most likely know about the 3 basic macronutrients that all foods are made of:
carbs (4 calories per gram),
proteins (4 calories per gram),
fats (9 calories per gram),
Right?
Well, alcohol itself is about 7 calories per gram.  So, just like any food or drink you consume (water being the only exception), alcoholic drinks contain energy (or calories) too.
But think about it, when you drink…the last thing you want to do is workout, so those calories just get tacked onto your daily total.
And when you have more calories IN than calories out….weight gain happens (or at least weight loss ISN’T really happening).
Here are some numbers to wrap your head around for this fat loss tip:
Red & white wine: roughly 92-97 calories per 4 oz glass
Beer: 92-147 calories per 12 oz bottle / 90-154 calories per can
Champagne: roughly 90 calories per 4 oz flute
Sweetened mixed drinks: depending on mixers, can range from 90-300 calories per 6 oz cup.
**PRO TIP: use unsweetened sodas / diet juices/ sodas for the flavor and not the extra calories.
Liquor: vodka & rum = 65 calories per 1 oz, whiskey = 70 calories per 1 oz
For the best fat loss and weight loss progress, remember to track your alcohol in addition to your food, and drink responsibly. ✅
